EXHIBITION SPONSORED BY L.A.EYEWORKS

Laguna Beach-The biggest name in big eyes meets the biggest name in eyewear. l.a.Eyeworks "A face is like a work of art" campaign became literal this September with the sponsorship of the Margaret Keane and Keaneabilia show at the Laguna Art Museum. Margaret Keane's pop icon status was confirmed in the 1970's when she was revealed as the ghost painter for her then husband Walter Keane...and as the rightful owner of the large-eyed waif legacy. A 1962 portrait entitled "Escape" by the iconic painter was scanned and digitally outfitted in l.a.Eyeworks frames, and stylized digitally in homage to a Greg Gorman photograph. The results: international acclaim! Brandweek magazine called the ad "ingenious!" Keane's work has been rediscovered by a new generation and her work has become increasingly collectible. Among collectors are Tim Burton, Matthew Sweet, and Jerry Lewis (an early fan). Her paintings appear in films including Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, Sleeper and Wayne's World. The exhibition runs at the Laguna Art Museum from July 29th through December 31st, 2000. Look at the l.a.Eyeworks website under News. And watch the mail for your special Margaret Keane/l.a.Eyeworks counter card!

Laguna Beach-The biggest name in big eyes meets the biggest name in eyewear.

l.a.Eyeworks will sponsor the first exhibition documenting the forty-year career of Margaret Keane. Margaret Keane's pop icon status was confirmed in the 1970's when she was revealed as the ghost painter for her then husband Walter Keane...and as the rightful owner of the large-eyed waif legacy. The exhibition will run at the Laguna Art Museum from July 30th - October 15th, 2000 then November 5th -December 31st 2000.

l.a.Eyeworks iconic ad campaign will feature the central image of Margaret Keane's famed 1962 portrait painting entitled "Escape" of a young woman, now digitally accessorized with l.a.Eyeworks eyeglasses. The Keane ad is a first-ever departure from l.a.Eyeworks' 20 year black and white celebrity portrait campaign by famed photographer Greg Gorman.

Keane's work has been rediscovered by a new generation, and her work has become increasingly collectible. A recent 8 page New York Times Sunday Magazine story on Keane drew national attention. Among collectors are Tim Burton, Matthew Sweet, and Jerry Lewis (an early fan). Her paintings appear in films including Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, Sleeper, and Wayne's World.

In San Francisco, be sure to visit Keane Eyes Gallery at 3036 Larkin. Robert Brown will guide you through the legacy of Margaret Keane, from posters to vintage paintings to extraordinary original oil paintings! Or if you're feeling flush, commission a portrait by the master. Lucky.
